Mere Extension of Time to Sri Lanka Will Accomplish Nothing and Only Delay Justice: Warns Anuradha Mittal

Anuradha Mittal, the Executive Director of the Oakland Institute has warned that granting more time to Sri Lanka to implement the UN resolution will only delay justice for those who have already waited for a very long time.

She made this remark in an interview with The Tamil Diplomat on Monday,  to discuss the findings of the latest report of the Oakland Institute  published today  under the title of “Justice Denied: A Reality Check on Resettlement, Demilitarization, and Reconciliation in Sri Lanka”.

“Given the lack of will and ability of the government of Sri Lanka to implement the resolution so far, continued militarization of the North and East, delay in returning people to lands and homes and secure livelihoods, a mere extension of time will accomplish nothing and only delay justice who have already waited for a very long time” Anuradha said.
